Global Warming, Panic or Reality?

Global warming is already under way. The evidence is vast and the urgency of taking action becomes clearer with every new scientific study. Some of the most obvious signs are visible in the Arctic, where rising temperatures and melting ice are dramatically changing the region’s unique landscapes and wildlife—as well as people’s lives and livelihoods. Across the globe, other early warning signs include melting glaciers, shifting ranges of plants and animals, and the earlier onset of spring.

1. What is global warming? Global warming is the current rise in average temperature of Earth's ocdeans and atmosphere. The most ovbious results are visible in the Artic.

2. What is the process involved in the greenhouse effect? The "greenhouse effect" is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat. These gases let in light but keep heat from escaping, like the glass walls of a green house.

10. Write an email to an internet forum

Hi
My name's Alba Lagresa and I live in Buryfield in England. I like the area where I live, so I want to improve it.
In my opinion ther isn't anywhere for young people to go and there aren't any facilities for them. As a result, young people spend all their time hanging around on the streets. There are sometimes problems with vandalism and graffiti.
I think the council should do something about this. I'm sure they must have some land for local people

Unit 9: Organize an event

Callum: Hey, guys. What's going on here?
Leah: We're trying to organize a barbecue. We want to mak some money for the youth club.
Callum: Cool! Can I do anything?
Shaun: Yes. There's a lot to do. We need some food and drink.
Leah: Yeah, my dad's helping with that.
Shaun: An I think we should make some invitations.
Callum: I can do that, if you want.
Shaun: OK. Thanks, Callum.
Leah: Then all we need is some music.
Callum: You should phone Beth - she's in a band.
Shaun: OK. Great.

Unit 8: Help when there's a problem

Teacher: Leah, what's happened? Are you OK?
Leah: No, I've cut my arm.
Teacher: How did that happen?
Leah: It was an accident. I fell while I was playing basketball.
Teacher: Oh, right. Have you cleaned it?
Leah: Yes, I have, but it hurts.
Teacher: Do you need help?
Leah: No, I think it'll be OK.
Teacher: Mmm. Maybe you need to see a doctor.

Unit 7: Talk about plans and arrangements

Gemma: Callum... Callum!
Callum: Yes? Oh, hi, Gemma.
Gemma: Are you doing anything this evening?
Callum: No, nothing special. Why?
Gemma: I'm going to a basketball match if you're interested.
Callum: Yes, great. What time does it start?
Gemma It's on at eight o'clock at the sport centre.
Callum: OK. Shall I meet you outside at about seven thirty?
Gemma: Yeah, OK. I'll see you there.
Callum: See you later, Gemma.

Unit 6: Speak about probability and the future

Callum: Leah, can I ask you a questinon? I'm doing a survey.
Leah: Yes, if you like.
Callum: Right, the question is, "Do you thing that the world will be a better place in the future?"
Leah: Let me think... No, definitely not. I think it'll be a worse place. What about you?
Callum: I disagree with you. I think it'll probably be a better place.
Leah: OK. What's the next question?
Callum: The next question is...
